The main focus of these meetings was autonomous vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The first meeting was on 17 August, 2015. This was first reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2015\/sep\/18\/apple-meets-california-officials-self-driving-car\">Guardian<\/a>. This was important because this was the first clue that Apple\u00a0is close to unveiling an autonomous automobile project.\u00a0The title of the meeting was &#8220;Autonomous Vehicle Discussion&#8221;. Mike Maletic (Apple)\u00a0had an hour-long meeting with the department\u2019s self-driving officials who were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bernard Soriano (current role:\u00a0Chief Information Officer)<\/li>\n<li>Stephanie Dougherty (current role:\u00a0Deputy Secretary at CalSTA &#8211; California State Transportation Agency)<\/li>\n<li>Brian Soublet (current role: Deputy Director)<\/li>\n<li>Andrew Conway (current role: Deputy Director)<\/li>\n<li>Timothy Corcoran (current role: Occupational Licensing Branch Chief).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The second meeting was held on 24 March 2017. This meeting was important because it occurred just days before\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/apples-apple-autonomous-car-application\/\">Apple received its permit in California to test self-driving cars<\/a>. We first learned about Apple&#8217;s permit via the DMV&#8217;s web site on April 14, 2017. This meeting lasted 1 hour. The title of the meeting was &#8220;Meeting with Apple&#8221;. The title of the meeting was &#8220;Update Meeting with Apple&#8221; It lasted one hour. Steve Kenner from Apple was in this meeting.
