Some users have stated that sometimes they do not earn exercise credit when they should. For example, some user has said that the exercise ring does not update or show your activity accurately. If you are having this problem too, then this article is for you.<\/p>\n<p>The Activity App has three rings: Red, Green, and Blue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/activity-app.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5540\" src=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/activity-app.png\" alt=\"Activity App\" width=\"256\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Red is the Move ring that tells you how many calories you have burned.<\/li>\n<li>The Green is the Exercise ring that shows how many minutes of exercise activity you have completed.<\/li>\n<li>And the Blue is the Stand ring that indicates how often you have stood up and moved for at least one minute per hour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are having <a href=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/activity-app-not-working-fix\/\">issues with the Activity app<\/a>, see this article.<\/p>\n<p>As stated above, one of the rings is Exercise. You should be able to close your Exercise ring by completing at least 30 minutes of &#8216;activity&#8217;. According to Apple, this activity should equal or exceed the intensity of a &#8216;brisk walk&#8217;. The definition of the brisk walk may different from one person to another. We explain this more about this below.<\/p>\n<h2>Exercise ring not working?<\/h2>\n<p>Make sure to check after each step to see if the Exercise ring starts working.<\/p>\n<p>First, let us try to define what exercise means from your Watch\u2019s point of view. Not all workouts may be treated as exercise. Your Apple Watch only gives you exercise credits when your heart rate goes above a certain threshold to be considered vigorous. This threshold depends on your\u00a0personal information (your height, weight, gender, and age, etc.). Only after this, your Apple Watch\u00a0begins to count it as exercise. \u00a0Otherwise, your watch may count this as Move. Your Apple Watch has various sensors. For better readings, please make sure that your settings are correct:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your personal information on your watch is accurate. You can check this:\n<ul>\n<li>On your iPhone, open the Watch app, then tap My Watch, scroll down and tap Health and then tap Health Profile. \u00a0Is everything correct? If not, tap the Edit button to make changes.<a href=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/health-profile.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5545\" src=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/health-profile-174x300.png\" alt=\"Health Profile Apple Watch\" width=\"174\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/health-profile-174x300.png 174w, https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/health-profile-594x1024.png 594w, https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/health-profile.png 748w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 174px) 100vw, 174px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>For accurate heart rate readings, your Apple Watch needs skin contact. When you are wearing your watch, make sure that it is not too tight, not too loose. Make sure that your watch fits just right.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that you wear your watch on the top of your wrist.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that your watch and your arm is clean and dry.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that Power Saving Mode is off during your exercise. You can check this by going to Settings &gt; Workout on your watch. You can extend <a href=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/apple-watch-battery-life-problems-how-to-fix\/\">your watch&#8217;s battery life<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that Heart Rate is enabled in Privacy. You can check this if it is on by opening the Watch app on your iPhone. Then tap My Watch and Privacy. <a href=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/heart-rate.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5546\" src=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/heart-rate-169x300.jpeg\" alt=\"Heart Rate\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/heart-rate-169x300.jpeg 169w, https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/heart-rate-576x1024.jpeg 576w, https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/heart-rate.jpeg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<li>Make sure that Wrist Detection is enabled. This can be enabled by going to My Watch &gt; Passcode on your iPhone.<\/li>\n<li>There are different Workout types. If you are using the Workout app on your watch, please ensure that you select the right the Workout type. such as indoor running, outdoor running, etc.<\/li>\n<li>On your iPhone, make sure that Location Services is turned on. You can turn this on by going to Settings &gt; Privacy &gt; Location Services.<\/li>\n<li>On your iPhone, ensure that Motion Calibration &amp; Distance is enabled. You can turn this on by going to Settings &gt; Privacy &gt; System Services and turn on Motion Calibration &amp; Distance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You checked all settings and everything is correct but still, the Exercise Ring is not working? Then please check the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You may want to reset your calibration data. Here is how you can do this:\n<ul>\n<li>On your iPhone, open the Watch app.<\/li>\n<li>Tap My Watch.<\/li>\n<li>Then Privacy &gt; Reset Fitness Calibration Data.<a href=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Reset-Fitness-Calibration-Data.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5547\" src=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Reset-Fitness-Calibration-Data-242x300.png\" alt=\"Reset Fitness Calibration Data\" width=\"242\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Reset-Fitness-Calibration-Data-242x300.png 242w, https:\/\/macreports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Reset-Fitness-Calibration-Data.png 338w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Restart your watch. You can restart your device by pressing and holding the side button until the Power Off slider appears. Then drag the slider. Wait one minute.
