How to Locate and Customize the Favorites Album in iOS 18 Photos App

The Favorites folder is a dedicated album in the Photos app where your most cherished or frequently accessed photos and videos are stored. When you mark an item as a favorite, it is automatically added to this folder, making it easy to find and revisit later. To add photos or videos to the Favorites folder, you can open the Photos app, select a photo or video, and tap the heart icon at the bottom of the screen. Once tapped, the photo or video will be added to the Favorites folder for quick access.
In iOS 17, the Favorites folder was located in the Albums tab. You could find it by opening the Photos app, tapping on the Albums tab, and scrolling down to the “My Albums” section, where the Favorites album was listed alongside other folders like Recents and Screenshots. This familiar layout made it easy for users to find their Favorites album. However, with iOS 18, the Favorites section has been moved, leading to some confusion for users.

Finding the Favorites Album in iOS 18
Finding the Favorites album in iOS 18 is slightly different due to the redesign of the Photos app. In iOS 18, Apple removed the traditional tabs at the bottom of the app, which were a key navigation feature in previous versions. Now, the Favorites album has been relocated to the middle of the screen within the main interface.
To find it, follow these steps:
- Open the Photos app.
- Scroll down slightly to the middle of the screen.
- Look for the Pinned Collections section.
- Tap on Favorites to open and view all your favorite photos and videos.
While the new layout aims to streamline navigation, the removal of the tabs has left some users unsure of where to look for familiar features like Favorites.
If you scroll down further, you can see your Albums, that you created or created by various apps like WhatsApp.
Customizing the Location of the Favorites Album in iOS 18
If you want to move the Favorites album to a more convenient location, you can customize the Photos app to suit your preferences. Here’s how you can do it:
- Open the Photos app and scroll down to the Customize & Reorder option.
- Make sure that Pinned Collections is checked. This ensures the Favorites album is included in the customizable section.
- To reorder the Pinned Collections, tap on the three horizontal bars next to the Pinned Collections row and drag it to the very top.
Once done, the Favorites album will appear directly under your main Photos album, making it much easier to access.
You can even further modify the order of other albums in your Pinned Collections to match your preferences. Just make sure to keep Favorites as the first album to ensure quick and easy access.
