“You are About to Start Playback, Do You Want to Clear the Song previously Added to Playing Next” Error
Have you ever encountered the message, “You are about to start playback. Do you want to clear the song previously added to Playing Next?” while using the Apple Music app? If so, you’re not alone. This prompt can be confusing, especially if you’re not sure why it’s appearing or what your options mean. The error message presents three choices: Play Song, Cancel, and Clear Songs.
I’ve seen suggestions to simply select Clear Songs, but when I try that, nothing happens—no music starts playing. Even worse, when I choose another song, the same message appears again, like an endless loop. This repetitive cycle makes the app incredibly frustrating to use and leaves me stuck, unable to play any music!
This error message usually indicates that the Music app is attempting to play songs queued from cloud services but has gotten stuck while trying to process them. This recurring issue is often called the “Playing Next Loop” because the app keeps cycling through the same error without successfully playing anything.
In this article, I’ll walk you through the steps to resolve this issue so you can get back to enjoying your music.
How to Fix the “Playing Next Loop” Error
The solution to this problem is simple: sign out of your Apple account in the Music app and then sign back in. Once you’ve completed this process, the error message will disappear instantly, and you’ll be able to play your audio files without further interruptions.
Here’s how to do it on iPhone, iPad, and Mac:
On iPhone and iPad:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Your Name.
- Tap Media & Purchases.
- Select Sign Out. Note that this will sign out of other Apple services as well like Apple TV and the App Store.
- Wait a few moments, then sign back in by tapping Sign In and entering your Apple ID credentials.
On Mac:
- Open the Apple Music app.
- From the menu bar at the top, click Account.
- Select Sign Out from the dropdown menu.
- After signing out, go back to the Account menu and click Sign In.
- Enter your Apple ID credentials to log back in.
Once you’ve signed back in, the error message should disappear, and your music should play normally. This straightforward fix resolves the issue for most users, allowing you to enjoy your tracks without interruptions.
