How to Allow Calls from Family While in Sleep Focus on iPhone
Sleep Focus, formerly just Do Not Disturb, is a great way to shut out unwanted interruptions while you are sleeping. However, you may be worried about missing a call from someone who really needs to contact you, for example, if there is an emergency. Fortunately, all of the Focus modes let you choose people who can always contact you, even when you have Sleep or Do Not Disturb turned on.
How to set Sleep or Do Not Disturb to allow calls from chosen contacts
You can set who is allowed to contact you during your Sleep Focus. You can select just a few people, allow calls from your Favorites, or allow any of your contacts to call you.
- Open Settings on your iPhone and tap on Focus.
- Tap on Sleep (or another Focus mode).
- Under Allow Notifications, tap on People.
- Tap on Allow Notifications From to select it.
- There are a few settings that allow people to contact you while you have the (Sleep) Focus mode enabled. First, make a choice for the Allow Calls From setting:
- Everybody – All calls will go through while Sleep is enabled.
- Allowed People Only – You will choose the people you want to be able to call you while in Sleep Focus. See the next step for how to choose people.
- Favorites – Any of your Favorites can call you. To check who is in your Favorites, open the Phone app and tap on the Favorites tab at the bottom. Tap the Plus (+) in the upper-right corner to add a contact to the Favorites list.
- Contacts Only – Anyone in your Contacts list can call you.
- If you selected Allowed People Only, add people to the allowed list by tapping on Add People. Select contacts, then tap Done.
- The last thing you should do is decide whether you want to have Allow Repeated Calls enabled. If someone calls you twice within three minutes, the second call will go through.
