How to Disable the Built-in iSight Camera on macOS Sequoia (macOS 15) Using a Configuration Profile
If you want to fully disable the built-in iSight camera on your Mac for privacy reasons, doing it via a configuration profile is a clean and secure solution—better than physically covering the lens, which can damage your screen over time.
With macOS Sequoia, Apple allows you to install custom configuration profiles to manage system behavior. Here’s how to create and install a profile that disables the iSight camera completely.

Why Use a Profile Instead of Tape?
I know many people who just cover their camera with tape or something similar. While taping over the camera is a common privacy workaround, it’s not recommended. Tape can leave residue or cause screen damage if the Mac is closed with pressure. A configuration profile disables the camera at the system level, offering a safer and more permanent solution—until you choose to reverse it, which is also easy.

- Open Apple Configurator.
- From the File menu, choose New Profile.
- In the left-hand pane, select Restrictions.
- Click Configure.
- Uncheck the option: Allow use of camera.
- From the File menu, choose Save…
- Save the profile as iSightDisableProfile.mobileconfig in your Documents folder.
- Close Apple Configurator.
Step 2: Install the Profile on macOS Sequoia
- Open System Settings on your Mac.
- Go to General > Device Management.
- Click the + (plus) button to add a new profile.
- Locate and select the iSightDisableProfile.mobileconfig file.

Step 3: Confirm That the Camera Is Disabled
You can verify the change using either of these methods:

To Re-enable the Camera
When you need access to the camera again, simply return to System Settings > General > Device Management, select the profile we installed, and click the – (minus) button to remove it. You can always reinstall it later using the same method.
Now your camera reactivated and if you check using the System Information, you will see this:
