Did You Know You Can Reply to Specific Messages on iPhone?

Sometimes, text message conversations can become confusing. If someone replies after you have sent a few comments, you may be left wondering what they were replying to. Other times, you may open a conversation in Messages and see that a friend has sent several messages before you could respond. You may want to comment on one of their earlier messages. In this article, we’ll tell you how you can respond to a specific message in the Messages app on iPhone.

How to respond to a specific message in Messages

1. Open a conversation in the Messages app and find the message you want to reply to.
2. Press and hold on that message until a menu appears. Tap Reply.

3. All of the other messages in the conversation will fade into a blurred background, and only the message you chose will be visible. Enter your reply and hit the Send button like you would normally.

4. Now, you (and your friend) will see:
   • 1 Reply under the message you replied to.
   • A “ghost” version of the message you replied to that appears above your reply.
