How to Fix the Apple ID not Yet Used in iTunes Store Error
The “Apple ID has not yet been used in the iTunes Store” error may occur for several reasons when an Apple ID hasn’t been properly set up for use with the iTunes Store, App Store, or other Apple services. This error message can pop up on any Apple device, including iPhone, iPad, or Mac. It prevents you from updating, downloading, or purchasing apps.
The full error message states: “This Apple ID has not yet been used in the iTunes Store. Tap Review to sign in, then review your account information,” with two options: Cancel and Review. I’ve included a screenshot of the error message above, so you can see it for yourself. As mentioned earlier, this error can be caused by several factors. Here are a few reasons why you might encounter this issue:
- New Apple ID: If you’ve recently created an Apple ID, it may not yet be set up for purchases or downloads. You need to complete the setup by agreeing to the terms and conditions and adding your billing information.
- Incomplete Setup: If you haven’t provided all the necessary details, such as a payment method or billing address, the iTunes Store may require you to complete these steps before using the Apple ID.
- Region or Country Mismatch: If your Apple ID is registered in one region and you’re trying to access the iTunes Store in another, this error may appear. You might need to update your region settings.
- Account Verification Required: Some Apple IDs require additional verification, such as confirming your email address or phone number, before you can make purchases or download free content.
As you can see, this error often occurs when trying to use an Apple ID for the first time. Since this is a new Apple ID, some details may be missing, causing the problem. To resolve this issue, follow these steps in order:
- Open Settings and tap your name on your iPhone or iPad, or click System Settings and select your name on your Mac.
- Tap Media & Purchases, then select View Account. You may be prompted to sign in.
- Tap Manage Payments and add a valid payment method. Ensure that your billing address and other details are accurate.
- Review all other details and ensure everything is correct, including the Country/Region settings.
