How to See All Your Heart Data Using Apple Watch and the Health App
Your Apple Watch is an incredible tool for staying on top of your heart health, offering detailed insights and real-time monitoring. The Workout app monitor your heart rate when it is running. This means that whether you’re taking a brisk walk, running, or engaging in a high-intensity workout, the Workout app tracks your heart rate continuously. Even after your workout ends, the app continues monitoring your heart rate for three minutes to calculate your recovery rate, giving you a deeper understanding of your cardiovascular fitness.
You can also use the Heart Rate app, which can be added to your watch face for quick and convenient access.
All of your heart data, including metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and more, is securely saved and accessible through the Health app on your iPhone or iPad. The app organizes your data into easy-to-read summaries and provides access to the raw data for each metric, so you can explore it in greater detail. The app organizes your heart rate records into a user-friendly format, allowing you to track changes over time. By default, it displays data for the past year, but you can dive deeper and review your entire history for a comprehensive picture of your heart health.

In this article, I’ll guide you step by step on how to access your heart rate data in the Health app, explore the raw data.
To access and manage your heart data, follow these steps:
- Open the Health App: Locate the app on your iPhone or iPad—it has a red heart logo on a white background.
- Navigate to Heart Data: Tap the Browse tab at the bottom of the screen. Scroll or search for Heart and tap on it.
- Explore the Heart Data Categories: Within the Heart section, you’ll find various metrics, such as:
- Heart Rate: Your beats per minute during different activities.
- Heart Rate Variability: A measure of the variation in time between heartbeats, reflecting overall heart health. We’ve previously provided an explanation of heart rate variability.
- Resting Heart Rate: Your heart rate when you’re at rest, a useful fitness indicator.
- Walking Heart Rate Average: Your average heart rate during casual walking.
- Cardio Recovery: How quickly your heart rate returns to normal after exercise.
- Cardio Fitness: Your VO₂ max, a key metric for cardiovascular fitness.The categories available may vary based on your specific data and how consistently you use your Apple Watch.
- View All Raw Data
- Tap on a specific heart data category.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Show All Data, under Options.
- You’ll now see your raw data entries, organized by date with the most recent at the top. Scroll through the list to explore all entries.
- Analyze and Manage Data
- Tap an entry to view more details about that specific record.
- To delete data, tap Edit in the top-right corner. You can delete individual entries by tapping the Delete button next to them, or remove all entries by tapping Delete All. Please note that The Apple Watch may occasionally record incorrect data, and deleting those entries can be a good idea if you believe the information is inaccurate.
