How to Use Your Apple Watch When Working Out Without Your Glasses
A lot of users have prescription eyeglasses that they wear most of the time. For those people, wearing glasses may ruin the gym experience. Having to wear glasses while working out has a lot of disadvantages, for example:
- The glasses may fall during running, jumping or other intense movements.
- Your glasses may fog due to humidity and perspiration.
- Glasses may create discomfort during activities that involve a lot of movement.
- Sweat or accidental drops may damage the lenses or frames.
A lot of Apple Watch users may prefer to wear their glasses while exercising so that they can see the screen and effectively use the Workout app. Apple Watch is a very useful workout tool. It can provide vital information as you excersise. For example, you can monitor your heart rate and workout metrics such as calories burned and time elapsed.
In this article, I describe how can turn on your Apple Watch’s Zoom feature so that you can work out with your Apple Watch without your glasses. This is a two-step process.
Step 1: Turn on Zoom
The Zoom feature is available as an accessibility tool on your watch. This will make everything on your screen bigger so that it is easier to see. This feature is implemented to assist people who may have visual impairments or difficulty seeing small text and details on the screen. This feature is also useful for people who may not want to wear their glasses in certain situations, like working out.
- On your Apple Watch, open Settings.
- Choose Accessibility, Zoom, then enable Zoom.
Step 2: Activate Zoom during workout
Now, during workouts, you can activate Zoom by double-tapping with two fingers. And then, you can use the Digital Crown to adjust your view. Alternatively, you can adjust the view using two fingers so that you can view other parts of the screen. To exit the zoom mode, you will need to double-tap again using two fingers.
Below, you can see two screenshots of an Apple Watch screen–with and without zoom.
You can use the same tip while working out in Apple Fitness+ in the Fitness app. You can also customize what information is shown on the screen in the Activity app:
- Open the Activity App.
- Tap the More (…) button next to an activity, like running or outdoor cycling.
- Scroll down and tap Preferences.
