Cracked Apple Watch Screen? See the Repair Costs
Reading Time: 3 minutes Although Apple Watch’s screens are pretty tough, and you’re much less likely to drop your watch onto a hard surface than you are your iPhone, it is still possible to crack the glass screen. If you have cracked the glass on your Apple Watch screen, you might think about getting it fixed. For some broken screens, repair may be optional; for others, the watch may need a new screen to function properly.
In this article, we’ll tell you about the cost of replacing an Apple Watch’s glass screen and how you can get it fixed. We’ll compare the cost of screen replacement to the cost of purchasing a new Apple Watch.
How much does it cost to replace an Apple Watch Screen?
How much you have to pay will depend on if you have purchased AppleCare+. The standard warranty that comes with the Apple Watch does not cover accidental damage, like cracked screens. In general, the more expensive Apple Watches have more expensive repair costs. The age (series) of the watch doesn’t make much difference. For example, the repair costs are essentially the same for watches in series 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Older models
For models older than the Apple Watch Series 4, you can still get the screen repaired (except for Apple Watch Series 1). The cost is less than replacing the screen on a newer model watch. See Apple’s watch repair site for details.
Cost of a new Apple Watch
Currently, Apple sells three different Apple Watches:
- Apple Watch Ultra: The Apple Watch Ultra sells for $799 and up and is available in 49mm size with GPS + Cellular.
- Apple Watch Series 8: Apple Watch Series 8 sells for $399 and up, is available in 41 or 45mm sizes, and you can choose GPS or GPS + Cellular.
- Apple Watch SE: Apple Watch SE sells for $249 and up, is available in 40 or 44mm sizes, and you can choose GPS or GPS + Cellular.
So, let’s say you currently own an Apple Watch Series 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 in Aluminum with GPS, and it has a cracked screen. You could either pay $299 to get it repaired or pay $399/$429 for a new Apple Watch Series 8 in Aluminum with GPS.
How to get your Apple Watch screen replaced
If you believe it’s worth it to you to get your Apple Watch screen replaced (it certainly may be if you have AppleCare+), you have a couple of options for getting the repairs done:
- You can schedule a visit at an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
- You can also mail your Apple Watch to Apple.
In the meantime, if your cracked screen makes it difficult to interact with your Apple Watch, but you still want to wear it, you can use the Watch app on your iPhone to make changes to your watch setup. You can also mirror your Apple Watch to your iPhone. This allows you to do everything you would normally do on your Apple Watch, just using your iPhone screen.
