Can’t Transfer Funds to Apple Savings from External Bank? How to Fix
Some users are experiencing that they are unable to transfer money to the Apple Savings account from a linked external bank account because they are unable to add and verify the external bank account. Users are getting an error message saying, “For your security, only accounts that are verified to be in your name can be used for transfers. If you need help, contact Support.” Users have said that they can transfer and deposit funds using Apple Cash, but the same process is not working with the external bank account.
You can open an Apple Savings account. You can link an external bank; you will need your account and routing numbers. If you can’t add money to it, this is a big issue. The linked external bank account is used to add to and withdraw money from the Savings account. This issue occurs when a linked external bank account needs verification. This will prevent the linked bank account from being available to use for Savings transfers.
If you cannot fix this, the only way to add to or withdraw money from the Apple Savings account will be via Apple Cash. In this article, we will cover what you can do to fix the problem with verifying your bank account.
Does your bank support Apple Pay & Apple Wallet?
Are you using a small local bank to deposit or transfer funds to Apple? These banks may not be able to be added. You should contact your bank and ask them if you can use your account to add money to Apple Savings. The good news is that small local banks are easy to reach, usually.
If you have a larger or national bank, sometimes they may have a verification process you need to complete. You may need to verify your Apple Card Savings account. Contact your bank to learn more.
I did have a similar problem. Although I was able to fund my Apple Savings account through my bank, my bank called me the next day and asked me if it was really me doing the transfer. I am guessing there are rules or regulations, either local or federal, that may cause this issue and that banks need to follow up to verify. Your bank will know more.
Update your iPhone
It seems that a number of people are having this issue. This may indicate that this is a bug affecting certain users. Then Apple will probably be familiar with this issue. Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. Since Apple Wallet is part of iOS, updating iOS will ensure that the Wallet app is up to date also. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
You can give feedback to Apple if you think that Apple is not fast enough to address the problem. You should know that Apple reads every feedback submitted.
Verify Apple Cash
Ensure that your identity for Apple Cash is verified. You can do this by following these steps in this order:
- Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Tap the Cash card.
- Tap the more (…) button in the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap Card Details.
- Tap Verify Identity and then follow the onscreen instructions.
Contact Apple Savings support to complete the verification
If nothing works for you, it is time to contact Apple Card (Goldman Sachs) support. For this situation, I recommend contacting them by phone. I also recommend calling during business hours to ensure your bank is open because Goldman Sachs may call your bank to address the issue. Follow these steps:
- Call 877-255-5923. This is the Apple Card support at Goldman Sachs.
- Press or say 2 (this is the Savings account option).
- Then press 1. This option is for external bank verification. Then wait for a support person to answer your call.
If your issue could not be solved, you can always transfer the funds to Apple Cash first and then to Apple Savings.
