Help! My Dog Ate my AirPods
Everyone who has had a dog knows that they may occasionally destroy your stuff. This is especially true with puppies. Dogs are very interested in certain items that people wear such as shoes, glasses and headphones or earphones. It is also true that keeping all of your stuff safe, all of the time, is pretty much impossible. In this article, we will tell you what you can do when your furbaby demolishes your AirPods.

We will focus on what to do about your AirPods. For advice on what to do if Fido ingested one of your AirPods, we recommend contacting your vet. If your dog is not showing any signs of distress or illness, your vet may be able to give you advice over the phone.
If your dog has stopped eating, become lethargic, vomits or shows other signs of distress, take her in to see your vet, or to the nearest emergency vet.

Replacement and Repair Options
When you have damaged AirPods, or a damaged AirPods Charging Case, you can get them replaced or repaired. If you have lost an AirPod – if your dog ate it, let’s consider it lost – you can order a replacement. The cost of doing this can depend on whether or not you have AppleCare+ for your AirPods.
How to Get Service for AirPods
You have two choices for getting service for your AirPods. You can set up an appointment at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or you can contact Apple Support. When you get your AirPods or case serviced, or when you call Apple Support, you will want to know the serial number for your AirPods. You can find the serial number in the following places:
- On the charging case (underside of the lid).
- On the proof of purchase.
- On the original AirPods box.
- If your AirPods are connected to an iOS device, go to Settings > General > About > AirPods.
Replacement or Repair Costs
Here’s what it will cost you to replace/repair your AirPods (in the U.S., anyway). Out-of-warranty repairs/replacements will also have additional tax, and a $6.95 shipping charge. If your damage incident is covered by AppleCare+, you’ll pay $29 for each incident.
You can compare the replacement costs below with the new costs for AirPods and AirPods Pro.
- For AirPods: $159, or $199 for AirPods with wireless charging case.
- For AirPods Pro: $249.
If One of your AirPods is Damaged
For AirPods it will cost you $69 and for AirPods Pro, it will cost you $89.

If One of your AirPods was Ingested
You probably don’t want it back. You will probably want to find it, however, in order to make sure your dog passes it.
If you do have AppleCare+, you may want to contact Apple, or ask when arranging the repair/replacement, to see if the dog damage would be covered. One thing that is certain about AppleCare+ for AirPods is that lost AirPods are not covered.
